DESCRIPTION:Title: Webinar on Blockchain\n\nDate: 20 Mar 2024\nTime: 01:00
PM to 02:00 PM Central\n\nRegistration details:\n\nPlease register at this
 link before 20 March 2024\, 12:00 PM Central:\n\nhttps://events.vtools.ie
ee.org/m/409058\n\nLivestream link will be provided to registrants prior t
o the event.\n\nEvent Host: Kayla Henneberry\, IEEE-USA\, k.henneberry@iee
e.org\n\nAbstract: Blockchain is a distributed ledger technology that enab
les secure\, transparent\, and immutable recording of transactions across
a network of computers. At its core\, a blockchain consists of a chain of
blocks\, where each block contains a list of transactions. It requires net
work consensus to ensure validity. Once consensus is met\, a block can be
added to the ledger as an immutable record of transaction.\nThis rather si
mple concept has already changed our transactional landscape a great deal
since it emerged in popularity. Conceptually\, blockchain technology has t
he potential to disrupt traditional systems\, increase efficiency\, transp
arency\, and trust\, and empower individuals and organizations across vari
ous domains.\n\nBut\, how did we get here? How is the history of Blockchai
n tied to Engineering and Technology? Is Blockchain only significant in th
e Data sciences and Computer Sciences Industries?\n\nSpeaker Bio: Amber E.
Orr is a Professional Engineer practicing in the State of Washington\, US
A. She has a history of working in both the Industrial and Power & Energy
sectors. She is also an Electrical Forensic Engineer. She is currently the
Chief Engineer representing several blockchain and HPC organizations supp
orting or developing their new large infrastructure requests and renewable
s throughout the United States.\n\nVirtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org
