DESCRIPTION:The ECE Students from UMU will be participating in a technical
visit to Foxconn. Below is a copy of the email sent by a representative fr
om Foxconn to promote the visit.\n\nWe are presently building electric tra
ctors for a company named Monarch.\n\nWe are also in negotiations with sev
eral manufacturers regarding new business opportunities. These are all rel
ated to Electric Vehicle manufacturing. Some of these products are ride sh
are vehicles. Others are midsize and full-size delivery vehicles.\n\nIn ou
r body shop\, we build the entire cab of the vehicle from steel and alumin
um parts. We place the parts in custom designed mechanical fixtures. We us
e welding robots to automatically weld the parts together. Then material h
andling robots pick up the new assembly and move it to the next automation
station. The next station may automatically dispense adhesive or sealer u
nder robot control. Then more parts may be added\, and more welding takes
place.\n\nAll the robotic welding and sealing is coordinated by Allen Brad
ley PLCs that communicate to the robots\, weld controllers and sealant sys
tems.\n\nWe need:\n\n- Mechanical engineers to design and analyze fixture
details and subassembly dimensions.\n- Controls engineers to write and adj
ust PLC programs to control the automation.\n- Electrical engineers to des
ign and maintain the control circuits and safety systems.\n- Computer Engi
neers to design\, program and maintain the vision systems\, data collectio
n equipment and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).\n- Industrial engin
eers to design\, analyze and improve the production processes.\n\nCo-spons
