DESCRIPTION:The profound session on the promising communication technique o
f Delay-Doppler Modulation (DDM) was delivered by Dr. Shafie\, which is de
signed to overcome the challenges associated with high-mobility communicat
ion scenarios. He discussed how embedding data in the Delay-Doppler (DD) p
lane could address Doppler challenges and dove into the practical implemen
tation issues that persist\, especially in transceiver design. He especial
ly mentioned the ups and downs he faced during his postgraduate time in th
e related topic while doing his PhD.\n\nThe lecture was rich in content\,
covering the DDM fundamentals and highlighting the distinctive properties
of the DD plane. Dr. Shafie also proposed how current 4G/5G wireless commu
nication system transceivers could be adapted to leverage DDM technology.
This spurred a lively question-and-answer segment\, indicative of the high
level of engagement from the attendees.\n\nDr. Suraweera\, along with the
students\, participated actively\, posing insightful questions that led t
o a dynamic exchange of ideas. Dr. Shafie’s comprehensive responses adde
d depth to the participant's understanding of the subject matter. They ope
ned the floor to discussions on the potential trajectories for the future
of wireless communication systems.\n\nAs the seminar drew to a close\, the
IEEE Communications Society Student Branch extended heartfelt thanks to D
r. Shafie for his enlightening presentation and to all those present\, esp
ecially Dr. Suraweera and the students of the Electrical and Electronic En
gineering Department\, for their enthusiastic involvement and contribution
s to the session's success.\n\nThe seminar was a testament to the IEEE Com
munications Society Student Branch's commitment to academic excellence and
its endeavour to provide platforms for learning and dialogue. The Branch
looks forward to organizing further events that will continue to inspire a
nd educate its members and the engineering community at large.\n\nSpeaker(
