The semester’s final MIPSE seminar will be presented by Dr. Denise Hinke
l of Lawrence Livermore National Lab on Wednesday\, April 3 at 3:30 pm in
Room 1005 EECS. In this seminar\, titled “To Ignition and Beyond”\, Dr
. Hinkel will describe the path towards achieving laser driven\, inertial
confinement fusion (ICF) ignition at the National Ignition Facility. The d
esign of the indirect drive capsule for the first demonstration of ignitio
n will be described and\, based on attempted repeats of that performance\,
improved capsule designs that provide higher fusion gain. The path forwar
d for ICF will be discussed. Please see attached flyer or [MIPSE website](
