DESCRIPTION:The Florida Legislature created the Florida Center for Cybersec
urity (Cyber Florida) at the University of South Florida in 2014 to help F
lorida become a national leader in cybersecurity through education and wor
kforce development\, research\, and public engagement. In 2022\, the Legis
lature tasked Cyber Florida with conducting a statewide critical infrastru
cture risk assessment to help protect Florida’s people and property agai
nst potential cyber victimization. In 2024\, this effort evolved into the
Critical Infrastructure Protection Program (CIPP)\, an enduring program to
harden the threat surface of the state.\n\nIn partnership with Idaho Nati
onal Laboratory\, CIPP provides a valuable online cybersecurity self-asses
sment tool at no cost to Florida’s public- and private-sector Critical I
nfrastructure (CI) organizations\, as defined by the Department of Homelan
d Security. The Cyber Security Evaluation Tool\, or CSET\, is a best-in-cl
ass risk assessment tool that allows organizations to measure their cyber
defense posture in the most vulnerable areas\, providing immediate\, actio
nable intelligence for decision-making.\n\nIn this seminar\, CIPP Senior P
rogram Manager for Cybersecurity Emilio Salabarria will provide an overvie
w of Cyber Florida programs\, including additional free resources for publ
ic-sector entities\, and a detailed discussion on the CIPP offerings\, fut
ure plans\, and the state of cybersecurity in Florida's critical infrastru
cture.\n\nSpeaker(s): \, Emilio Salabarria SR\n\nVirtual: https://events.v
