DESCRIPTION:We consider common features of the interaction of electromagnet
ic fields with thin-wire structures with symmetrical geometry: a straight
wire above a perfectly conducting ground\, a semi-circular wire perpendicu
lar to a perfectly conducting ground\, and single and double helical wires
. All of these models are important in various applications of electromagn
etic compatibility. Interaction of electromagnetic field with thin wires a
re described by a system of Mixed Potential Integro - differential Equatio
ns (MPIE)\, linking induced currents to potentials. Due to the geometrical
symmetry of these structures\, the kernels of the MPIE depend only on the
differences of arguments (natural parameters)\, which make it possible to
solve it by different kinds of Fourier transformation for arbitrary excit
ation. Two most important cases of excitation are considered: excitation b
y a plane wave and excitation by a lumped source.\n\nCo-sponsored by: EMC
