The abstracts come from a range of disciplines and include decentralised autonomous space communication (t o defend against extraterrestrial threats)\, hyper-spectral imaging (to en hance human vision)\, maglev technology (for a maglev space elevator)\, an d even a prosthetic heart!\n\nThe competition is in celebration of the [82 nd World Science Fiction Convention](https://glasgow2024.org/) being hoste d in Glasgow this year\, hence the sci-fi twist\, and our judges reflect t hat coming from academia as well as creative fields\, including Scotland ’s own sci-fi author\, Ken Macleod. The winners of the competition will be present their posters at the convention\, as well as being given full p asses\, thanks to generous funding from the IEEE.\n\nThe presentation is o n 24th July\, between 6 – 8pm\, in the Strathclyde University Students U nion (Teaching & Learning Building)\, on the Level 1 Concourse.
