DESCRIPTION:Topic: Cybersecurity\n\nAbstract\n\nCybersecurity is an issue t
hat impacts a wide breadth and depth of global society. It can have effect
s for an individual at the very personal level\, at their workplace\, in t
heir local community\, as well as at the national security level. Identiti
es can be stolen\, proprietary company information can be stolen\, utility
services could be interrupted\, military action could be disrupted\, and
National Essential Functions for continuity of government could be denied.
\n\nNo security is perfect in either the physical or cyber domains\, but e
veryone should be educated to make informed risk decisions in order to app
ly resources to reduce risk to a level that they can accept. Hope is not a
method.\n\nCybersecurity is a team sport. The President signed the Cybers
ecurity Act of 2015 to strengthen the Nation’s cybersecurity with a stra
tegy to enhance cybersecurity awareness and protections\, protect privacy\
, maintain public safety\, economic and national security\, and empower Am
ericans to take better control of their digital security.\n\nLTC Eric Van
Den Bosch is a Signal Officer in the U.S. Army with experience in Cybersec
urity and protecting our military networks\, but the principles apply to i
ndividuals as well as private and public organizations.\n\nThe intent of t
he topic is to bring additional awareness and dialogue across the IEEE com
munity in order to enable a more proactive Cybersecurity approach in the e
nvironment that we live and work.Topics to be covered include: Protection
of Critical Infrastructure (energy\, water\, transportation\, etc.)\, Amer
ican Values of both Security and Privacy\, Being an Informed Consumer with
the Internet of Things (IoT)\, and discussion of what you can do within y
our realm of influence.\n\nDinner menu\n\nTuscan Meatballs\n\nMacaronie &
Cheese\n\nRiviera Blend Vegetables\n\nGarden Salad with Ranch & Vinaigrett
