DESCRIPTION:From August 12th – 15th 2024\, Fraunhofer FKIE will host the
1st Sensor Data and Information Fusion Summer School! In courses and discu
ssions with specialists from the Fraunhofer FKIE\, participants will learn
from the basic of sensor data and information fusion to cutting-edge tech
nologies from our research groups. The event is open to students\, postgra
duates and young professionals from academia and industry. Of course\, bes
ides intensive learning\, the summer school participants will have enough
opportunities to connect and enjoy the beautiful area around Bonn and the
Siebengebirge in Germany’s Middle Rhine region.\n\nTopics include Probab
ility Theory\, Parameter and State Estimation\, Convex and Stochastic Opti
mization\, Distributed Fusion\, Fusion on Discrete Grids\, Particle Filter
s\, Tracking\, Passive Target Localization\, Imaging Sensors and Radio Nuc
lear Sensors.\n\nThe summer school will take place at the scientific confe
rence centre “Physikzentrum Bad Honnef” at the foot of the scenic “S
iebengebirge” hill range next to the river Rhine\, southeast of the city
of Bonn. The forested hills are of ancient volcanic origin and offer fant
astic views to hikers to the Rhine valley with its medieval castles. Bad H

d 14 km northwest of Bad Honnef\, is an international and student city wit
h a population over 300.000. The city is a university city home to the Uni
versity of Bonn\, was the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven and was the c
