vide an overview of the diverse research conducted at the Athlete Engineer
ing Institute (AEI). Projects discussed will cover wearable technologies\,
human performance\, and human factors\, focusing on various athlete perso
nas\, including sports\, tactical\, industrial\, and at-risk athletes. The
interdisciplinary nature of AEI's research involves multiple fields\, suc
h as engineering\, kinesiology\, and fashion design and merchandising. Dav
id will share lessons learned on how to foster a thriving R&D environment\
, emphasizing the importance of creating a team-focused culture and learni
ng to speak a common language. This talk aims to equip attendees with tool
s and insights for applying these principles in their own careers and work
places. David recently received the 2024 Bagley College of Engineering Res
earch Support Staff Award and 2024 Zacharias Distinguished Staff Award for
his work as lab manager for the Athlete Engineering Research Lab\, includ
ing his efforts with student mentorship and collaboration.\n\nBio: David S
aucier earned his BS in Computer Engineering and MS in Electrical and Comp
uter Engineering from Mississippi State University\, and has experience wo
rking in software development as a co-op at ADTRAN\, Inc. David now applie
s industry-standard software and automation solutions to human performance
and human factors problems. As the manager of the Athlete Engineering Res
earch Lab\, he trains and mentors students across disciplines on using the
 lab’s gold-standard equipment\, including motion capture\, force plates
\, instrumented treadmills and electromyography. His research focuses on h
uman performance and validation of novel wearable technologies. David supp
orts research with industry partners like Toyota\, ABB Motors\, Ingalls Sh
ipbuilding\, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol\, and collaborates with ve
ndors to implement innovative technologies through the lab's industry netw
ork. His primary skillsets include the use of Python for automation of dat
a processing in lab validation and Microsoft Power BI for dynamic filterin
g and visualization of data in custom dashboards created for industry part
ners and MSU athletics. He also manages day-to-day lab project using Agile
and lean manufacturing best practices.\n\nRoom: 813\, Bldg: ORED\, 301 Re
