DESCRIPTION:Could your next medical device run a smart OS? New health and f
itness applications are becoming available for your Android phones and tab
lets every day. With the advent of modern UX\, touch interfaces and smart
devices\, users are expecting their decades-old medical and health devices
to catch up with technology as well. Today\, when we see a display\, we a
utomatically want to interact with it using a touch interface and we expec
t the device to be smart\, connected and aware.\n\nNow\, Android is being
used in medical devices\, providing a rich User Interface which might have
traditionally been built as an embedded device from scratch. It is time-c
onsuming to re-invent the wheel and build a rich UI\, connectivity and sec
urity system from scratch.\n\nJoin us at the Alpha Loft in Manchester on W
ed March 15th at 6 pm for a joint GDGNH and IEEE NH Computer Society event
. Our speaker is Sarfraz Ahmad.\n\nSchedule:\n6:00 - 6:30: Pizza and Netwo
rking.\nThanks to our sponsor: [Sunrise Labs](http://www.sunriselabs.com/)
 .\n6:30 - 6:40: Introduction by Baris Kazar\, IEEE Computer Society.\n6:40
  - 7:30: Android as a Future Medical Platform - Sarfraz\n\nIn this tech ta
lk we will look at “How Android as a platform helps in solving those pro
blems and reducing complexity and time to market”. The learning from thi
s event can also be applied to areas outside the regulated medical device
world.\n\nSarfraz Ahmad is a software engineer with more than 12 years of
experience in developing both Android applications and embedded devices fo
r different verticals. For the past two years he has been developing softw
are for medical devices\, helping to blend technologies from other technol
ogy sectors into medical. Sarfraz will lead us through challenges and oppo
rtunities for building a medical device based on an Android hardware and s
oftware platform.\n\nThis is a joint event for Google Developers Group New
Hampshire and the IEEE Computer Society\, NH section.\n\nCo-sponsored by:
