DESCRIPTION:The IEEE Dibrugarh University Student Branch organized the seco
nd event for IEEE Day 2024 on 5th and 6th October. This event took place a
t Vidya: The Living School\, located in a remote area on the Assam-Arunach
al Pradesh border in Dhemaji district. The purpose of the event was to eng
age with the local students and the school community\, facilitating an exc
hange of knowledge and experiences while celebrating the spirit of IEEE.\n
\nA team of dedicated IEEE volunteers embarked on a 67-kilometer journey f
rom Dibrugarh University to the school. The scenic route to this remote sc
hool was both challenging and rewarding\, underscoring the commitment of o
ur student branch to reach underserved communities. Upon arrival\, we were
warmly welcomed by the school’s students and staff.\n\n[]\n\nDay 1: Eng
aging Activities and Building Connections\n\nThe first day was filled with
a variety of interactive activities designed to foster connection and sha
re knowledge with the students:\n\n-\nGames and Interaction: We began by p
laying games with the students\, which helped us break the ice and build c
amaraderie. The games also allowed us to learn more about the students’
interests and their unique perspectives on education and life in a rural a
rea.\n\n-\nOrganic Soap-Making Project: One of the most impressive highlig
hts of the day was learning about the students' innovative organic soap-ma
king project.\n\n-\nMeals and Bonding: Sharing meals with the students and
staff helped create a stronger bond between our team and the school commu
nity. We had open discussions about their daily lives\, aspirations\, and
the challenges they face\, particularly related to education in a remote a
rea. Spending the night at the school further deepened our connection\, as
we experienced their way of life firsthand.\n\n-\nDiscussions with Teache
rs: The teachers at Vidya: The Living School provided us with valuable ins
ights into the unique challenges they face in educating students in such a
remote location. The discussions covered issues such as limited access to
resources\, infrastructure challenges\, and the need for more innovative
educational tools. We explored potential ways to support the school and it
s students\, including possible future collaborations and initiatives.\n\n
[]\n\nDay 2: Interactive Session and Filming\n\nOn the second day\, we con
tinued our engagement with the students through an interactive session tha
t included discussions about technology\, education\, and personal growth.
This session was particularly impactful\, as the students were eager to l
earn more about the opportunities that IEEE could offer and how technology
can drive positive change in their community.\n\n-\nFilming: We also film
ed a series of videos throughout the day that will be released soon. These
videos aim to document the experiences and perspectives of both the stude
nts and the IEEE volunteers\, showcasing the power of education\, innovati
on\, and community engagement.\n\n-\nSpecial Guests: The session was enric
hed by the presence of two distinguished guests: Mr. Anup Sharma\, an engi
neer from Nutanix\, Bangalore\, and Mr. Suraj Chetia. Their participation
added immense value to the event\, as they shared their professional exper
iences\, career advice\, and insights into the world of engineering and te
chnology. The students were particularly inspired by their success stories
and the challenges they overcame in their professional journeys.\n\n[]\n\
nThe second event for IEEE Day 2024 was a heartwarming and inspiring exper
ience for everyone involved. Our interaction with the students at Vidya: T
he Living School provided us with a deeper understanding of the importance
of community outreach\, especially in rural and underserved areas. The tw
o-day event helped strengthen the bond between the IEEE Dibrugarh Universi
ty Student Branch and the local community\, while also planting seeds of c
uriosity\, innovation\, and hope in the minds of the students.\n\n[]\n\nWe
look forward to continuing our efforts in supporting Vidya: The Living Sc
hool and exploring more ways in which IEEE can contribute to the growth an
d development of these young minds and their community.\n\n[]\n\nDhemaji\,
