DESCRIPTION:With all the budget cuts in our education system\, a lot of “
extras” have been taken out of our schools. The SKPL program puts those
premium learning experiences back into the communities\, making them free
and accessible to the public.\n\nIEEE- Region 4 believes all children –
regardless of race\, gender\, financial condition\, or home environment
 – should have access to high-quality\, hands-on STEM learning experience
 s. By making catalyst grants available to public libraries\, they are empo
wered to start their own science kit collections that are free and accessi
 ble to the public.\n\nAs a volunteer-based organization\, IEEE- Region 4 i
s looking for people that are passionate about STEM education and are inte
rested in helping to bring SKPL to children in their communities.\n\nThis
presentation will include the SKPL mission\, purpose and process as well a
s the history of SKPL. Why SKPL is important and how Life Members can make
a difference will be discussed.\n\nCo-sponsored by: IEEE Region 4 \n\nSp
