DESCRIPTION:In honor of Claude Shannon – the father of information theory
and arguably of all communications and networked systems – Bell Labs ha
s created the Shannon Luminary Lecture Series and Award\, to explore all t
opics of high impact and relevance to the future of human existence\, with
an annual series of ten talks by the leading visionary researchers\, deve
lopers\, thinkers and entrepreneurs from all fields of scientific\, techno
 logical\, engineering\, mathematical\, or related artistic endeavor.\n\nTh

, author\, Guggenheim Fellow\, and adjunct associate professor in the Depa
rtment of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Stanford University. Dr. Ea

what we know about the human brain today. A highly awarded luminary across
  neuroscience\, society\, ethics\, and education\, Dr. Eagleman has also s

“How to create new senses for humans” in his lecture\, describing how
“alternative” sensory inputs can be used to replace “missing” inpu
