DESCRIPTION:Power quality is extremely important to electrical engineers si
nce it can greatly affect power system performance\, design requirements\,
and project costs. Power system engineers have dealt with power quality i
ssues for decades\, and yet\, despite this knowledge and experience\, powe
r quality still poses a challenge to daily system operations. The Power Sy
stem Harmonics and Power Quality presentation should help attendees unders
tand the causes\, effects\, and methods of addressing various power qualit
y problems. The presentation introduces methods of modeling and simulating
power systems for study purposes\, and these methods are demonstrated usi
ng case studies. The effects of harmonics on various power system componen
ts and methods of reducing excessive harmonics will also be addressed. Pow
er quality and harmonics standards such as IEEE 519 and 2800 requirements
 are also emphasized.\n\nSpeaker(s): Dr. Ali Moshref\n\nAgenda: \n12:00 –
