DESCRIPTION:The Vermont transportation sector has been identified as one of
the prime targets for electrification in the next decade to meet statewid
e carbon reduction goals. The integration of electric vehicles poses a num
ber of challenges\, however\, including the logistics of deploying chargin
g infrastructure and emerging electric power grid constraints.\n\nJointly
hosted by UVM's center on energy and autonomy\, [CREATE](https://www.uvm.e
du/cems/create)\, and the local [IEEE PES Green Mountain Section](https://
site.ieee.org/gms-pes/)\, this event will feature short talks about these
issues from utility representatives\, researchers\, and transportation exp
erts. Following these talks\, we will convene a panel discussion to dialog
ue about common pain-points and the path forward.\n\nConfirmed participati
ng organizations include\n\n- [Burlington Electric Department](https://www
.burlingtonelectric.com/)\n- [Washington Electric Coop](https://www.washin

ks will be served at this event\, which is free to attend. Please do regis
ter in advance.\n\nLocation: This event will be hosted at the new [Patrick
 Leahy Center](https://www.uvm.edu/ruralpartnerships/contact-us)\, located
at the center of UVM's campus. Patrick Leahy Building 102.\n\nParking: ht
tps://www.uvm.edu/map/. Click on the menu on the left\, expand the “park
ing” section and go to “visitor parking”\, which shows visitor parki
ng options. The Jeffords upper and/or lower lots are recommended\, but the
visitor parking in Gutterson is also a good option (10 minute walk to the
Leahy Center). Parking lots require use of the “park mobile” app.\n\n
