DESCRIPTION:The IEEE ComSoc Chapter of Gujarat Section is proud to present
the second talk in its webinar series on Quantum Communication. This insig
htful session\, titled "Quantum Secured Communication Systems & Applicatio
ns"\, will explore the transformative potential of quantum communication t
echnology and its implications for secure global communications.\n\nThe ex
pert speaker for this event is Shri Adarsh Jain\, Head\, Quantum systems &
 technology Division\, SAC\,ISRO\n\nTalk Summary:\nQuantum communication l
everages the principles of quantum mechanics to offer unparalleled securit
y\, making it an ideal solution for secure data transmission. In this talk
\, Shri Adarsh Jain will focus on the system engineering aspects of satell
ite-based quantum communication\, emphasizing the role of satellites in en
abling long-range global Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). Unlike fiber-opti
c and terrestrial free-space QKD\, which are constrained by distance limit
ations due to fiber absorption or atmospheric losses\, satellite-based QKD
provides a viable solution for distributing secure keys over thousands of
kilometers\, making it suitable for global coverage.\n\nThe session will
cover key topics\, including:\n\n- Single and entangled photon-based QKD p
rotocols\n- Space and ground segments of satellite-based QKD systems\n- In
tegrated QKD networks and international developments\n- Challenges in impl
ementation and potential applications\n\nThis talk will also provide a dee
p dive into the practical challenges and future prospects of satellite-bas
ed quantum communication systems\, offering valuable insights into their a
pplications in various sectors\, including cybersecurity\, defense\, and c
ommunications.\n\nWe invite all members and interested participants to joi
n us for an engaging discussion on the future of secure communication tech
nology.\n\n[]\n\nSpeaker(s): Sh. Adarsh Jain\, \n\nVirtual: https://events
