DESCRIPTION:On December 13\, 2024\, a team of students from Govt. Boys High
School Sadar Ji Bhatyoon\, District Khairpur Mirs\, visited Mehran Univer
sity of Engineering and Technology (MUET)\, Jamshoro\, to participate in a
STEM activity. The event was jointly organized by the IEEE ComSoc Karachi
Chapter and the IEEE ComSoc MUET Student Branch Chapter\, aiming to inspi
re young minds by providing hands-on exposure to real-world applications o
f engineering and technology. During the visit\, the students visited vari
ous laboratories of the Department of telecommunication Engineering\, MUET
Jamshoro including network lab and optical communication lab. This tour w
as supervised by Dr. Umair Ahmed Korai\, Chair IEEE ComSoc Karachi Chapter
. The students explored the Networking Lab in the Department of Telecommun
ication Engineering. Engr. Talha Kaimkhani facilitated the session\, provi
ding an insightful explanation of essential networking components such as
routers\, switches\, and hubs. He demonstrated their roles in establishing
and managing communication networks and showcased the live network setup
of the department. Whereas the demonstration of optical communication lab
was given by Dr. Umair Ahmed Korai in which he explained the importance of
optical communication and showed some important equipment\, including opt
ical fiber cable\, optical fusion splicer\, and optical time domain reflec
tometer. This engaging session allowed the students to connect theoretical
knowledge with practical applications\, broadening their understanding of
telecommunications technology. It also served to motivate them to pursue
careers in STEM fields by exposing them to cutting-edge facilities and pro
fessional guidance. The event ended with the group picture with the facult
y members and students of the said school.\n\nMehran University of Enginee
