DESCRIPTION:Daniel Tobias\, a recent B.S Comp Eng graduate from NCA&T will
present about his senior design project "Cherry Autonomous Racecar - 1/10t
h scale Nvidia Jetson TX1 based RC car."\n\nThe Cherry Autonomous Racecar
(CAR) was a senior design project created this past year at NC A&T. The go
al of the project was to create a low cost robotics platform that could be
used to teach\, design and validate different approaches to autonomous dr
iving\, while implementing similar sensors used in the industry.\n\nTalk b
reakdown: The presentation will be a categorized in three parts.\n\nThe fi
rst will be related to the sensor suite that the project is using along wi
th an summary of what each sensor is able to do. The main idea is to talk
about the performance of each sensor and the hardships that were faced imp
lementing each sensor so that others could avoid making the same mistakes.
Then talk about the trade-offs of similar sensors.\n\nThe second part wil
l talk about the software\, specifically the ROS network and the Tensorflo
w implementation of End to End learning for Self-Driving Cars that is bein
g used to drive the CAR autonomously around the hallways of A&T.\n\nThe la
st part will be about similar projects from other universities\, and suppo
rt surrounding the Jetson board.\n\nThis will be followed by a 5-10 mins Q
&A.\n\nSpeaker Information\n\nDaniel Tobias recently Graduated from NCA&TS
U with a B.S. Comp. Eng.\n\nCurrently Studying for the GRE\, taking the Ud
acity's Self-Driving Nanodegree course and working on the GM AutoDrive Cha
llenge.\n\nIEEE ENCS RA24 chapter appreciates the passion and drive from D
aniel towards the project and wishes all the very best to his career & lif
e.\n\nIEEE ENCS RA24 chapter recommends engineers and professionals to mak
e use of 50% IEEE membership discount for the year\, make use of the caree
r\, research and colloboration opportunites from this great science instit
ution.\n\nSpeaker(s): \, \, \, \n\nAgenda: \n6:20-7:00pm Networking with p
izza and soda\n\nThe times below are approximate and are given just as a g
uideline:\n\n7:00-7:20pm IEEE ENCS RA24 next scale action plans\, news and
announcements\n\n7:20-7:45pm Daniel Tobias will present about his interes
ting topic Cherry Autonomous Racecar project\, highlighting the sensors &
hardware design\, software architecture and similar projects\n\n7:45-8:00p
m Brief Q/A from IEEE hobbyists and professionals\n\n8:00-8:15pm Mahesh wi
ll present a brief survey results of current prominent opensource resource
s related to robotics and humanoid system architectures. This can be a sta
rting point of extra ENCS RA24 activities to foster better R&A design task
s in local community.\n\n8:15-8:40pm Show-n-Tell (if interested\, bring ou
