 on microscopy characterization for over two and a half decades\, the major
 ity of which he has spent at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. His wo
 rk has touched a wide variety of materials and research projects from soli
 d oxide fuel cells to structural materials failure analysis for the nuclea
 r industry. During the past decade\, he and his fellow teammates have push
 ed the boundaries of next generation microscopy\, developing a cutting edg
 e automation platform called AutoEM.\n\nAs you will see in the following p
 resentation\, while Dr. Olszta has never taught in an academic setting\, h
 e strives to make his research understandable to a broad audience. Science
  should be approachable if we are to reinvigorate our need to develop futu
 re scientific and technical workforce. His presentation will give insight 
 into how we can go from using Legos as a teaching tool to peering into the
