DESCRIPTION:Based on our IEEE mission and vision of creating in-house IEEE
member experts in Robotics and Automation\, Grayson's efforts had triggere
d "IEEE ENCS Humanoid Robot Project".\n\nDaniel McDonald an impressive IEE
E member who has significantly contributed from our own impressive IEEE hu
manoid project\, will be providing a demo and walk through of the current
humanoid system design detail\, his future aspirations. Our IEEE humanoid
project is primarily a non-profit learning platform to foster the STEM act
ivities among the senior hobbyists as well as future generations. Daniel w
ith other folks contribution and efforts to the project are highly appreci
able.\n\nhttp://sites.ieee.org/encs-humanoid/\n\nThis will be followed by
a brief upto 15 mins Q&A or relevant discussions among IEEE members\, hobb
yists and professionals.\n\nIn fact\, this activity can also be done in mo
re than one iteration\, on individual areas of the system design. Also thi
s is an initiative\, where our IEEE members can add their support to Danie
l in future.\n\nIEEE RA24 chapter strongly recommends every interested IEE
E member to join and assist Daniel McDonald's efforts in the IEEE humanoid
project. Currently there are weekly meetings every wednesday at Forge Hea
dquarters at 3300 Green Level West Rd\, Cary between 6:30pm to 8:30pm (htt
p://theforgeinitiative.org).\n\nPer IEEE RA24 current chair\, Forge initia
tive is clearly matching his thought process and requirements for a very o
rganized makerspace work area for IEEE member hobbyists\, seniors\, profes
sionals and future generation kids. This is where our current IEEE humanoi
d project is being implemented. This way we will practically kickstart our
open-source based robotics expertise development initiative\, fostering c
ontinuous learning and contribution on R&A activities.\n\nFurther if time
permits\, in every future RA24 session Mahesh will briefly walkthrough int
erface/design details on specific selective interesting or useful robotics
and humanoid opensource resource architectures.\n\nSpeaker Information\n\
nDaniel McDonald\, an IEEE Senior Member since 2013 and is the Artificial
Intelligence Team Lead for the ENCS Humanoid Robotics Project. Daniel hold
s a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Mathematics from Asbury University
and the Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Kentuc
ky. He is interested in collaborating with other engineers on a challengin
g robotics project where he can pursue solutions to the problem of how to
build a thinking machine.\n\nDaniel’s contributions to the KEN v1 humano
id include the software architecture\, the design of the boot node\, imple
mentation and enhancement of many of the other software nodes\, and the fa
ce learning and recognition algorithm. Daniel currently leads the developm
ent of the KEN v2 robot.\n\nIEEE ENCS RA24 chapter appreciates the passion
\, drive and contribution from Daniel towards the project and wishes conti
nued success and all the very best to his career & life.\n\nSpeaker(s): \,

IEEE ENCS RA24 news and announcements.\n\n7:15-7:50pm Daniel McDonald wil
l provide a casual demo and walk through of the current humanoid system de
sign detail\, his future aspirations. Current IEEE humanoid project is a b
aby of Daniel McDonald and few other inspiring IEEE members thought proces
s.\n\n7:50-8:00pm Brief Q/A from IEEE member hobbyists and professionals.\
n\n8:00-8:10pm Mahesh will briefly walkthrough about interface/design deta
