DESCRIPTION:University microgrids serve as both an energy solution and an e
ducational resource\, offering a sustainable and resilient approach to mod
ern campus energy management. By integrating renewable energy sources\, Ca
mpus microgrids help reduce carbon emissions and support institutions in a
chieving their sustainability goals. Additionally\, they provide a valuabl
e platform for research and hands-on learning in energy systems\, smart gr
ids\, and power optimization.\n\nThis presentation focuses on the optimal
planning and operation of a campus microgrid\, addressing key aspects such
as energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness. A comprehensive optimization
model for campus microgrid planning will be presented as a case study. Th
e model considers both grid-connected and islanded operational modes to en
sure reliable performance under varying conditions\, with the University o
f Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) utilized as the test system. The fin
dings of this study offer insights into how universities can enhance energ
y security\, reduce investment and operational costs\, and contribute to a
  cleaner energy future.\n\nAgenda: \n5:30 pm -5:35 pm: Introduction\n\n5:3
