DESCRIPTION:Technologies for a Circular Economy\nA one-day hybrid workshop
at SusTech 2025\, sponsored by the IEEE Technical Activities’ Future Dir
 ections [SusTech Initiative](https://sustech.ieee.org/)\n\nFor agenda deta
ils see https://sustech.ieee.org/circular-economy\n\nNOTE: This is Worksho
p-only registration\, the workshop is included with [SusTech 2025 conferen
 ce registration](https://ieee-sustech.org/).\n\nRegistration includes acce
ss to the workshop\, breakfast\, lunch and coffee breaks.\n\nBy arrangemen
 t with the [SusTech Initiative](https://sustech.ieee.org/) this workshop-o
nly registration is at no charge.\n\nBuilding a circular economy is becomi
ng increasingly recognized as a means of achieving a variety of sustainabi
lity goals. From the long-term availability of natural resources\, to the
protection and recovery of ecosystems from global pollution\, the benefits
of such a system of production and consumption can be far-reaching\, if i
mplemented judiciously. This workshop will introduce the topic of circular
economy and examine several areas where technological advances or scaling
are needed. Expert presentations and discussion topics will include:\n\n1
. At the beginning of the economic cycle: the important topic of the avail
ability of critical mineral resources used in electronics and battery prod
ucts\, including design for reuse/recycling\;\n\n2. During the manufacturi
ng and consumption phases of the economic cycle: technologies to track com
ponents and products through\, for example\, “digital passports”\;\n\n
 3. At the end of the economic cycle: solutions for managing widespread was
te and pollution\, including the carbon emissions which now cripple our pl
anet’s climate.\n\nOur aim is to expand your knowledge\, build connectio
ns\, and brainstorm ideas which can help the IEEE build communities and re
sources to develop the solutions that are urgently needed.\n\nCo-sponsored
