DESCRIPTION:Control strategies for wound rotor induction generator (WRIG) w
ith certain power converter topologies will be discussed for effective uti
lization of wind energy. Firstly\, for the effective utilization of availa
ble wind power in grid-connected WRIG\, space heating and battery loads to
be connected at rotor side through power electronic converter\, which is
a three-phase diode bridge rectifier along with IGBT chopper. Further\, to
operate the grid-connected & stand-alone WRIG system in wide speed operat
ion (both in sub-synchronous speed and super-synchronous speed)\, a simple
topology which consists of single SPWM inverter and battery banks at the
rotor side of doubly fed induction generators will be presented.\n\nFurthe
r\, small-scale wind-PV distributed generation system for supplying AC/DC
loads of telecommunication tower will be discussed.\n\nSpeaker(s): Dr. Vij
