DESCRIPTION:This is a joint meeting of Canadian Society of Senior Engineers
  and IEEE Life Members Affinity Groups.\n\nThis series of presentations ha
 s been occurring for more than 20 years and is now being also advertised t
 o the IEEE Northern Canada Section (NCS) Life Members Affinity Group (LMAG
 ) through vTools and other IEEE LMAG&#39;s and IEEE members depending upon the
  topic. At the same time the Canadian Society of Senior Engineers (CSSE) i
 s using their national organization to provide information\, the subject a
 nd speaker to members across Canada.\n\nThe next meeting will be held on T
 hursday\, April 17\, 2025. The meeting will open at 12:30 pm MDT (2:30pm E
 astern)\, with the presentation starting at 12:45 (2:45 pm EDT). The meeti
 ng will be held via the Zoom platform with the actual invitations sent the

 Energy Transition?\n\nPresenter: Bob Emmott\, President and CEO Maxim Powe
 r Corporation\n\nSummary: Nuclear power is the second-largest source of lo
 w carbon energy used today to produce electricity\, following hydropower. 
 Progress on nuclear power technologies continues. It has led to innovative
 \, advanced and next generation reactor designs that are likely helping to
  make nuclear power a more efficient\, affordable and attractive option fo
 r decarbonization. In setting the table let’s think about what’s next 
 for nuclear in Canada and Alberta.\n\nBio: Bob Emmott is the President and
  Chief Executive Officer at Maxim Power Corporation. He holds a Bachelor o
 f Science in Mechanical Engineering from the UK a Post Graduate Diploma in
  Nuclear Engineering from the UK and a Master of Laws from the Osgoode Law
  School. Mr. Emmott began his operations management and engineering career
  serving in the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet. This was followed 
 by well over a decade working for Alstom Power in the UK\, designing\, bui
 lding and commissioning several large coal and gas-fired power plants in t
 he UK\, Canada\, USA and Asia. Emigrating to Canada in 2000\, Mr. Emmott c
 ompleted thirteen years with TransAlta Corporation\, leading Technical Ser
 vices and serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Engineer. As a con
 sultant\, Mr. Emmott has taken a leading role delivering several strategic
  electric power industry company initiatives in the USA\, Canada and Austr
 alia. Mr. Emmott joined MAXIM in November 2018 as Executive Vice President
  and Chief Operating Officer and was appointed to President and Chief Exec
