DESCRIPTION:The rapid advancement of generative AI is transforming how chil
dren interact\, learn\, and socialize. Surveys show that 45% of high schoo
 l [students](https://cdt.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/FINAL-Off-Task-Rep
ort-Slides.pdf) already use OpenAI platforms\, such as ChatGPT\, to deal w
ith friendship\, relationship\, and mental health issues. There are many o
utstanding questions about the impact that these developments will have on
children’s development and socialization. As generative AI becomes more
readily accessible in schools and at home\, researchers worry that younge
 r students may face [reduced](https://www.gse.harvard.edu/ideas/edcast/24/
