DESCRIPTION:Abstract:\nThis tutorial provides an in depth review of the eve
r evolving technical area called “Data Analytics\,” a subset of “Big
  Data\,” that encompasses data analysis\, data fusion\, data storage\, d
ata sources\, infrastructure and technology\, screening and filtering algo
rithms\, machine learning\, and complexity. These techniques will be intro
duced with respect to their individual contribution to data analytics and
to their combined contributions to data analytics system s. Specific use c
ases will be presented in which participants will observe\, both through p
resentation and videos\, the individual and combined applications and valu
e of these techniques and systems for specific commercial and Department o
f Defense (DoD) use cases.\n\nParticipants will emerge from this tutorial
with a focused understanding of data analytics principles and techniques t
hat will enable them to apply these concepts toward building engineering s
ystems for mission decision support.\n\nTarget audience:\nThis tutorial is
applicable to individuals interested in the analysis of data\, especially
data scientists. Individuals who work in operations centers that are resp
onsible for the processing\, exploitation and dissemination of large amoun
ts of data collected from a wide variety of sensors will also find this tu
torial very useful. Systems engineers focused on analysis of complex syste
ms\, mission support\, and automated decision aides are also included in t
he target audience.\n\nLearning outcomes:\nParticipants will emerge from t
his tutorial with a focused understanding of data analytics principles and
techniques that will enable them to apply these concepts toward building
engineering systems for mission decision support.\n\nAll visitors will be
required to enter SwRI through the main gate at the Culebra and Oak Hill i
ntersection.\n\nAfter entry\, please proceed to SwRI Archives in Building
 51. Location can be found using Google Maps\n\n(C9VP+J4 San Antonio\, Texa
 s).\n\nSpeaker(s): Dr. Paul Hershey\n\nBldg: Building 51\, 6220 Culebra\,
