DESCRIPTION:This lecture will focus on the development and patenting proces
s of an innovative electrical protection device designed to detect and mit
igate the risks associated with the disconnection of the neutral conductor
in low-voltage power distribution systems. Such failures can lead to seve
re overvoltage in connected equipment\, posing significant safety hazards
and economic losses.\n\nThe session will begin with an overview of the mot
ivation and real-world needs that led to the creation of this device\, inc
luding common scenarios in residential and industrial installations where
such failures occur. The technical concept and operation of the device wil
l be presented in detail\, including its architecture\, functioning princi
ples\, and expected performance under different fault conditions.\n\nA ded
icated segment will cover the patenting procedure\, guiding attendees thro
ugh essential steps such as prior art research\, patent documentation\, fi
ling strategy\, and understanding both initial and maintenance costs. Emph
asis will be placed on the inventor’s journey\, offering insights into t
he challenges faced and lessons learned during the process.\n\nFinally\, t
he lecture will address the critical question of “what comes next”—e
xploring potential paths for further development\, prototyping\, industria
 l application\, collaboration opportunities\, and commercialization strate
gies.\n\nThis lecture is especially relevant for students\, engineers\, an
d researchers in the field of electrical engineering who are interested in
innovation\, intellectual property\, and translating technical ideas into
real-world impact.\n\nCo-sponsored by: Ss. Cyril and Methodius University
