DESCRIPTION:The IEEE Dibrugarh University Antennas and Propagation (AP) Soc
iety was officially inaugurated on 9th May 2025 at 10:00 AM in an offline
ceremony\, marking a major step forward for our university’s IEEE commun
ity. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp\, signifying
the dispelling of ignorance through the light of knowledge. Our Head of t
he Department and Chapter Advisor Dr. Haraprasad Mondal then delivered a w
elcome address\, reflecting on the growing significance of antenna and pro
pagation research and the role of such academic communities in shaping the
future. The presence of our Director Sir and all faculty members added to
the gravitas of the occasion.\n\nTwo eminent guest speakers graced the oc
casion:\n\n● Professor Christophe Fumeaux\, Professor at the University
of Queensland\, Australia\, and President of the IEEE Antennas and Propaga
tion Society\, joined us virtually. Prof. Fumeaux spoke about the evolving
landscape of antenna design in the context of emerging technologies such
as 5G\, IoT\, and biomedical applications. He also discussed the IEEE AP S
ociety’s global initiatives and the value of student engagement in profe
ssional development\, urging attendees to explore collaborative internatio
nal opportunities.\n\n● Professor Debatosh Guha\, from the Institute of
Radiophysics and Electronics\, University of Calcutta\, and a Distinguishe
d Lecturer of the IEEE AP Society\, was present on campus. His engaging ta
lk explored advanced design challenges in compact antenna systems and the
practical nuances of achieving high-efficiency performance in modern RF sy
stems. His real-world case studies and ability to simplify complex concept
s captured the interest of both students and faculty.\n\nThe event also fe
atured a grand unveiling of the official logo and website of the IEEE AP S
ociety\, which was launched by our Webmaster. This digital milestone marks
the society’s formal online presence and will serve as a hub for update
s\, resources\, and upcoming events. In addition\, Chapter Chair Souvik Gh
osh presented a comprehensive overview of the chapter’s vision\, planned
initiatives\, and budget allocations. His presentation laid the foundatio
 n for a year of impactful student activities\, hands-on learning\, and pro
fessional growth.\n\nWith an audience of 55+ enthusiastic students\,and ma
ny faculty members\, the event was a celebration of innovation\, knowledge
-sharing\, and community-building. The interactive nature of the guest ses
sions\, combined with the collective excitement of launching something new
\, made the inauguration a resounding success and a memorable beginning fo
r the IEEE AP Society at Dibrugarh University.\n\nSpeaker(s): Prof. Christ
