DESCRIPTION:The session on “Extending RPA into Supply Chain and Logistics
”\, organized by IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka\, will be held on th
e 17th of May 2025\, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM IST\, via Zoom. As a continua
tion of the Robotics in Industry 4.0: Automation and Smart Manufacturing W
orkshop Series\, this session will explore how Robotic Process Automation
(RPA) is revolutionizing supply chain and logistics operations through int
elligent automation.\n\nThe session will be delivered by Prof. Amila Thibb
otuwawa\, a Professor at the Department of Transport and Logistics Managem
ent\, University of Moratuwa\, with expertise in supply chain optimization
\, logistics\, and sustainable transport systems.\n\nThis session will foc
us on the deployment of RPA tools to automate and optimize complex workflo
ws in procurement\, inventory management\, order processing\, transportati
on scheduling\, and last-mile delivery. Prof. Thibbotuwawa will demonstrat
e how RPA\, when integrated with data analytics and machine learning\, can
significantly improve operational efficiency\, reduce lead times\, and en
hance visibility across the supply chain. Special attention will be given
to applications in cold chain logistics\, drone-based delivery systems\, a
nd energy-efficient transport planning—highlighting the role of automati
on in building resilient and sustainable supply networks.\n\nParticipants
will gain practical insights into the challenges and opportunities of adop
ting RPA in real-world logistics settings\, including cost-benefit conside
rations\, system integration\, and workforce impacts. A live Q&A segment w
ill follow\, encouraging attendees to engage in meaningful discussions and
explore innovative use cases with the speaker.\n\nHosted by IEEE YP Sri L
anka\, this session is designed for professionals\, researchers\, and stud
ents looking to deepen their understanding of the strategic role RPA plays
in transforming modern supply chain ecosystems under Industry 4.0.\n\nSpe
