 pter will host Tanvir Kaur from Amazon Web Services (AWS) for an in-person
  technical talk on designing hybrid networks with AWS on May 22nd at the G
 eorge Mason Regional Library at 6:30 PM EDT. This talk will be of interest
  to anyone tasked with securing resources on cloud and on-premises network
 s\, as the topics apply broadly to cloud networking in general. Food and b
 everages will be available at the talk.\n\nAttendees will be able to eleva
 te their AWS networking expertise by learning how to design well-architect
 ed hybrid networks on AWS. The talk will begin by discussing the tradeoffs
  of using multi-availability zone (AZ) and multi-region architectures and 
 how to build networks with Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). A VPC on AW
 S provides a critical component for building secure cloud networks by enab
 ling individual computing resources (e.g.\, VMs\, serverless functions\, o
 r containers) to run within a private network with connectivity configured
  by the network designer. For example\, a designer may split a VPC across 
 multiple availability zones within a region\, opt to connect specific host
 s or subnets on the VPC to the Internet\, select AWS services\, or an exte
 rnal on-premises network.\n\nThis session will explore design challenges t
 hat arise in these hybrid network settings when multiple VPCs and on-premi
 ses data centers are connected. To solve these challenges\, we will discus
 s how to build hybrid connectivity for high availability and disaster reco
 very using services like AWS Direct Connect\, AWS Site-to-Site VPN\, AWS T
 ransit Gateway\, and AWS CloudWan. Finally\, the session will explore both
  single and multi-region network architectures and discover how to enhance
  observability and availability by utilizing active monitoring with Amazon
  CloudWatch Network Monitor. Monitoring networks with CloudWatch allows op
 erators to gracefully manage their multi-region VPC and on-premises networ
 ks and recover from any incidents that may arise.\n\nThis talk will take p
 lace at the George Mason Regional Library. The main entrance will be close
