DESCRIPTION:As Colorado State University moves towards a more robust aerosp
 ace program\, the demand for established undergraduate projects in the fie
 ld grows. The reduced cost\, scope\, and time to launch Cube Satellite pro
 grams is an attractive prospect for students to gain valuable experience w
 ith space systems\, the complete engineering life cycle\, and program mana
 gement. From a high-altitude ballooning campaign\, dual-use antenna positi
 oner\, and ground station\, to international\, institutional\, and industr
 y collaboration\, the Open Orbit CubeSat Team is paving the way for all st
 udents\, of any experience\, to hit the ground running in this fast-paced 
 and challenging industry. However\, new programs built by and for undergra
 duate students possess a number of unique challenges. Join us as we discus
 s our experiences with and approaches to student turnover\, engagement\, k
 nowledge transfer\, open source\, and more as our team approaches its seco
 nd semester.\n\nBio:\nFrom a team of three junior engineering students in 
 January 2025\, with our faculty advisor\, Dr. Chandrasekar\, and CSU-CHILL
 ’s international relationship with Aalto University\, Open Orbit is now 
 a team of over 20 undergraduate students spanning all four years within th
 e colleges of engineering\, business\, natural sciences\, and liberal arts
 . Our members comprise student leadership for Triangle and DevNet\, resear
 chers across various disciplines\, including satellite control systems\, c
 omputational fluid dynamics\, and adaptive robotics\, as well as a diverse
  group of skilled technicians\, business developers\, and artists. Open Or
 bit receives a wealth of support and direction from a number of other facu
