(Ted) S. Rappaport is a distinguished NYU professor in Electrical & Compu
ter Engineering\, Computer Science\, and Grossman School of Medicine. He's
also a Visiting Professor at Purdue and Fellow at Texas A&M. He founded N
YU WIRELESS (2012) and earlier wireless research centers at UT Austin and
Virginia Tech.\n\nTed authored key textbooks and his fundamental research
shaped Wi-Fi\, early US digital cellphone standards\, and led the global a
doption of millimeter wave and sub-Terahertz frequencies for 5G\, 6G\, and
beyond. His work influenced FCC decisions to open new mobile spectrum ban
ds (2014-2016\, 2018-2019).\n\nA successful entrepreneur\, he founded TSR
Technologies (pioneered software-defined radios\, E911 location) and Wirel
