DESCRIPTION:Step beneath the surface and into the hidden world that keeps t
he University of Washington running—steam\, chilled water\, and backup e
lectricity flow through over seven miles of tunnels to heat\, cool\, and p
 ower classrooms\, dormitories\, research labs\, and critical facilities.\n
\nWhat to expect on the tour:\n\n-\nBehind-the-scenes access to the Power
 Plant’s boilers\, chillers\, and expansive underground utility network.\
n\n- Live demonstrations of how essential services—like heating\, coolin
 g\, and emergency power—are generated\, monitored\, and delivered across
  campus\n-\nPersonal insights on the responsibilities\, technology\, and t
eamwork required to sustain campus infrastructure and the past\, present\,
and future of the UW Power Plant .\n\nIdeal for anyone curious about how
UW facilities keep the campus functioning—safely\, sustainably\, and sea
mlessly.\n\nThe tour is 90 minutes. No open toe shoes are allowed in the p
lant. We recommend comfortable walking attire\, jeans and full coverage sh
oes\, we recommend against skirts and narrow heel shoes due to open grate
flooring throughout the plant. No PPE required. It is recommended to dress
in layers since the boiler rooms can get warm. There are no restrictions
on carrying items (backpacks\, water bottles\, etc.)\, but it is recommend
ed to leave those items in the building above ground at the beginning of t
he tour.\n\nHere’s a link to their plant video with some history:\n\n[ht
