DESCRIPTION:IEEE Matrusri Engineering College Student Branch \, SPS MEC\, i
n association with the IEEE SPS Hyderabad Section and IEEE Hyderabad Secti
on\, is organizing an SPS Distinguished Lecture on\n\n“In Search of a Be
tter Solution with a Research Logic Triangle and the Toyota Production Sys
 tem”\n\nDate: 19th August 2025\nTime: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM\n\nThis talk e
xplores how to develop not just a good solution\, but a better solution to
a given problem\, using a research logic triangle in combination with the
Toyota Production System. In highly competitive environments such as indu
stry\, finding a better solution is crucial.\n\nOften\, the principle behi
nd a problem–solution pair remains hidden—yet uncovering it is key to
success. The approach presented in this talk begins with a logic-building
process\, applying the technology logic triangle (commonly used in technic
al writing) to clarify and refine the problem–solution relationship.\n\n
The Ohno Doctrine of the Toyota Production System is then applied to the r
efined problem\, revealing the underlying principle that often leads to a
superior solution. Real-world examples from semiconductor technology and s
ignal processing illustrate how this method can be applied effectively.\n\
nSpeaker: Dr. Akihiko K. Sugiyama\, Dr. Eng.\nDamas.cus Corporation / Toky
o Metropolitan University\n\nDr. Akihiko K. Sugiyama brings over 40 years
of experience in developing telecommunications\, speech\, and audio signal
processing systems for consumer and network products. He has a proven rec
ord of technology adoption in commercial products\, contributions to inter
national standards\, and extensive publications and granted patents. His c
areer is uniquely marked by marketing and sales achievements\, including e
stablishing 300+ global contacts in two years and conducting proof-of-conc
ept (PoC) evaluations with world-leading companies for technical licensing
.\n\nRepresenting Japan in ISO/IEC MPEG Audio standardization\, Dr. Sugiya
ma also served as Interim Chair of the Audio Subgroup at the Angra dos Rei
s Meeting in Brazil\, with additional contributions to ITU and 3GPP standa
rdizations as a delegate. He has bridged industry and academia through 25+
years of teaching at universities and the supervision of 75 internship st
udents.\n\nDr. Sugiyama has delivered 232 invited talks across 101 cities
 in 31 countries\, earning 25 awards\, including the 2024 Industry Innovati
on Award from the IEEE Signal Processing Society. He is the sole inventor
or co-inventor of 273 registered patents in Japan and abroad.\n\nHe is a F
ellow of IEEE\, Honorary Member of IEICE\, and Fellow of IEICE. His distin
guished speaking roles include:\n\n-\nIEEE Signal Processing Society Disti
nguished Lecturer (2014–2015)\n\n-\nIEEE Consumer Electronics Society Di
stinguished Lecturer (2017–2018)\n\n-\nIEEE Signal Processing Society Di

as a Renowned Distinguished Speaker (“The Rock Star”) by the IEEE Cons
 umer Electronics Society.\n\n[]\n\nSpeaker(s): Akihiko K. Sugiyama\, \n\nA
