  war effort\, and pushed for innovations that propelled the U.S. to be the
  technological envy of the world. He was self-educated in the fundamentals
 \, skilled in understanding and designing technological advances\, and ade
 pt at identifying innovative solutions to challenges before him. Thus\, 
 “Lincoln the Engineer.”\n\nDavid A. Sabatini\, Ph.D.\, P.E.\, BCEE\, i
 s the David Ross Boyd Professor Emeritus in the School of Civil Engineerin
 g and Environmental Science at the University of Oklahoma. A member of the
  Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame\, Dr. Sabatini became the Associat
 e Director of the Institute for Applied Surfactant Research in 2000\, and\
 , in 2005\, co-founded OU’s WaTER (Water Technologies for Emerging Regio
 ns) Center. Since its establishment\, the WaTER Center has gained internat
 ional recognition for its research\, undergraduate minor\, and biennial in
 ternational conference and prize. The center focuses on bringing clean wat
 er and sanitation to all people\, both in the developing world and in emer
 ging regions of our own country. He has coauthored or edited four books an
 d 200 academic articles that have over 10\,000 citations. His research has
