DESCRIPTION:The IEEE Computer Society (CS) Student Branch Chapter at Anurag
University\, under the guidance of Mrs. M. Sandhya Rani (Faculty Advisor)
and the leadership of Varsha Ponugoti (Chair)\, organized an offline meet
ing on 20th August 2025 to plan the upcoming technical workshop “HackEth
ics – Hack to Protect\, Not to Exploit”.\n\nThe objective of the meeti
ng was to discuss the structure\, execution\, and promotion of HackEthics\
, a cybersecurity workshop aimed at equipping students with knowledge of e
thical hacking practices\, hands-on training in vulnerability assessment\,
and strategies to safeguard systems against evolving cyber threats.\n\nKe
y Points Discussed During the Meeting:\n\nWorkshop Format and Structure:\n
\n- Finalizing the structure of the session\, including an expert talk fol
lowed by hands-on practical training.\n- Covering core cybersecurity topic
s such as ethical hacking principles\, common vulnerabilities\, penetratio
 n testing\, and defense strategies.\n- Ensuring a balance between theory a
nd practice to make the workshop interactive and impactful.\n\nContent Pre
paration and Standards:\n\n- Deciding on key practical demonstrations such
  as SQL Injection\, Cross-Site Scripting (XSS)\, Command Injection\, and a
utomated testing tools (Burp Suite\, SQLmap).\n- Highlighting defense mech
 anisms including input validation\, firewalls\, and security headers.\n- P
reparing case studies and real-world examples to connect theoretical learn
ing with practical application.\n\nParticipation and Registration:\n\n- Se
tting eligibility criteria and registration deadlines.\n- Planning for a p
articipation cap to ensure effective mentor-student interaction.\n- Decidi
ng on certificates of participation to encourage student engagement.\n\nTe
am Roles and Logistics:\n\n- Delegating responsibilities for coordination\
 , technical setup\, timekeeping\, and participant support.\n- Arranging th
e venue setup (G-Block Seminar Hall)\, along with technical infrastructure
such as laptops\, projectors\, and internet connectivity.\n- Ensuring pro
per setup for live demonstrations of tools and cybersecurity practices.\n\
nPromotion and Outreach:\n\n- Designing posters\, digital banners\, and cr
eatives highlighting the theme “Hack to Protect\, Not to Exploit”.\n-
Planning social media campaigns and internal circulars to reach a wide stu
dent audience.\n- Engaging class representatives to spread word-of-mouth p
romotion.\n\nConclusion:\n\nThe meeting concluded with all members aligned
on the agenda\, structure\, and responsibilities for the workshop. The up
coming “HackEthics” session is expected to be an insightful and intera
ctive experience\, equipping students with essential cybersecurity skills
while reinforcing the ethical values behind responsible hacking practices.
