DESCRIPTION:The seminar features a guest speaker Dr. Anusree Mandali\, who
is currently an Assistant Professor in ECE department at Lafayette College
. Dr. Mandali earned her M.S. and Ph.D. from Cleveland State University. H
er research focuses on robust and intelligent controllers for uncertain sy
stems and printed sensors. She has published widely in journals and confer
ences. In this presentation\, she will discuss soft grippers\, a branch of
soft robotics that leverages deformable materials for adaptive and safe m
anipulation in fields such as healthcare\, food handling\, and manufacturi
ng. While soft grippers offer advantages such as low cost and high dexteri
ty\, their broader adoption remains limited by challenges in autonomy\, sc
alability\, and integration of sensing and control. In addition\, Dr. Mand
ali will reflect on her decision to pursue an academic career and the chal
lenges she has faced as an early-career professional.\n\n2121 Euclid Ave.\
