DESCRIPTION:This visit\, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre\, was o
rganized by INVEBOT\, an electrical engineering club from the Faculty of E
ngineering and Built Environment (FKAB)\, UKM in collaboration with IEEE U
KM Student Branch 2025/2026. The program aimed to provide exposure to stud
ents of the Department of Electrical\, Electronic\, and Systems Engineerin
g (JKEES) regarding the semiconductor industry\, particularly in terms of
technological development and skilled workforce requirements. As one of th
e strategic sectors in the high-tech industry\, semiconductors play a vita
l role in the development of the nation’s digital economy. Through parti
cipation in the Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day (MSRD)\, students g
ained a deeper understanding of the industry ecosystem as well as the role
of engineers throughout the entire value chain—from chip design\, fabri
cation\, and packaging\, to testing and product verification.\n\nThroughou
t the program\, students were also exposed to various technical presentati
ons and talks covering the latest developments in the industry. These incl
uded presentations on the semiconductor landscape in Malaysia\, online lea
rning approaches by ARM University\, and technical updates by Synopsys Sin
gapore. Each session provided direct insights into how technologies such a
s automation\, integrated circuit (IC) design\, and engineering software a
re applied in the semiconductor sector.\n\nAdditionally\, students partici
pated in the Taiwan Terrence Start-Up Demo Day\, where various start-up co
mpanies showcased innovative technological solutions with commercializatio
n potential. This session opened new perspectives for students on technolo
gy entrepreneurship and highlighted the importance of creativity and innov
ation in the engineering field.\n\nStudents also had the opportunity to bu
ild professional networks through interactions with industry representativ
es\, simultaneously enhancing their confidence and communication skills in
a professional environment.\n\nThrough this visit\, students are expected
to gain a clearer understanding of career paths in the semiconductor fiel
d\, as well as identify the technical and soft skills required to improve
their employability. Exposure to current technologies\, interview processe
s\, and real industrial environments enables students to prepare earlier b
efore undergoing industrial training.\n\nOverall\, this program not only p
rovided hands-on experience in the high-tech industry but also strengthene
d the relationship between the university and the semiconductor industry.
It is hoped that this visit will serve as an important starting point in g
uiding students to plan their career paths in engineering and technology.\
