DESCRIPTION:On September 29th\, IEEE ComSoc SCT SBC hosted the second sessi
on of its ComConnect series\, titled ComConnect 1.0. The talk was titled
“Looking out at the Universe in Radio Waves: From Communication to Astro
nomy” and was delivered by Ms. Zenia Zuraiq\, Ph.D. Student & Prime Mini
ster’s Research Fellow\, Department of Physics\, Indian Institute of Sci
ence.\n\nMs. Zenia\, an associate member of the Indian Pulsar Timing Array
(InPTA) consortium\, specializes in high-energy astrophysics with a focus
on compact star structure. Her session brilliantly connected the fundamen
tals of everyday wireless communication to the advanced techniques used in
radio astronomy to study celestial phenomena. Her session took the audien
ce on a journey from the familiar world of wireless communication to the v
ast expanse of radio astronomy\, explaining how the same radio waves that
connect our devices also allow us to listen to the cosmos.\n\nThe insightf
ul presentation left the audience with a profound appreciation for the sub
ject. ComConnect 1.0 was a resounding success\, highlighting the powerful
synergy between engineering and astrophysics and inspiring a passion for i
nterdisciplinary knowledge.\n\nSpeaker(s): \, Zenia\n\nAgenda: \nA session
exploring how radio waves connect our daily technology to the mysteries o
f the universe.\n\nVirtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/506521
