DESCRIPTION:This is the annual joint meeting between the Calumet Section of
the IEEE and the IEEE Student Chapter at Valparaiso University. Attending
the meeting will be the FIRST FTC Robotics Team from Merrillville High Sc
hool. Also the robotics teams from Valparaiso University will be present.\
n\nThe Main topic will be the Valparaiso Satellite Program:\n\nBoth the fa
lling cost and increasing pace of rocket launches into low Earth orbits ha
ve drastically lowered the barrier to entry for first-time satellite teams
. Valparaiso University's BCON satellite mission is the direct result of t
hese trends combined with preparation to be ready for the right conditions
\, which yielded two simultaneous no-cost launch opportunities and explain
s why BCON-2 will launch before BCON-1. This talk will give background on
trends for novice and educational projects using CubeSat and smaller satel
lite sizes and describe Valpo's current satellite project.\n\nSpeaker(s):
Professor Dan White\, \n\nAgenda: \n5:30 Social Hour\n\n6:00 Dinner\n\n7:0
