However\, with the rise in t he frequency and severity of natural disasters and their dire impacts on s ociety\, it is paramount to consider the problem from a nexus of resilienc e\, sustainability\, and equity. This talk presents a framework for power grid capacity planning\, while balancing the cost of operation and expansi on with the life cycle impacts of various technologies. Further\, to ensur e equity in grid resilience\, a social vulnerability metric is presented t hat allows for quantifying the impacts of energy not served on communities affected by long-duration power outages.\n\nSpeaker Bio: Salman Mohaghegh i received the PhD in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Tec hnology\, Atlanta\, GA in 2006. Currently\, he is an Associate Professor a t the Electrical Engineering Department at Colorado School of Mines. Prior to that\, he was a Senior R&D Engineer at ABB Corporate Research Center\, Raleigh\, NC.
