DESCRIPTION:Computer systems in cloud data centers are becoming increasingl
y powerful\, but at the cost of complexity. At the forefront of recent tec
hnological advancements\, newer PCIe generations and the emerging Compute
Express Link (CXL) protocol promise significant improvements in connectivi
ty within data-center environments. However\, these advances also increase
the complexity of resource sharing\, posing significant challenges to the
adequacy of traditional supervisory software designs\, including operatin
g systems (OS) and hypervisors.\n\nThis talk will introduce a Fused OS des
ign to explore cache-coherent shared memory\, a hypervisor design to reduc
e memory fragmentation\, and a tiered memory management framework on a mul
ti-tiered memory-hierarchy platform. Finally\, I will present my future vi
sion for adaptive coherence management\, where the system dynamically sele
 cts hardware- and software-managed coherence.\n\nVirtual: https://events.v
