DESCRIPTION:The electrification of transportation is redefining the role of
power electronics and drives in shaping future mobility. As electric vehi
cles (EVs) continue to evolve\, innovations in converter design\, motor co
ntrol\, and energy management are becoming critical for achieving higher e
fficiency\, compactness\, and reliability. This talk delves into emerging
research opportunities in areas such as high-power density traction invert
 ers\, bidirectional on-board chargers\, DC–DC converters for auxiliary s
ystems\, and integrated drive architectures. Emphasis will be placed on th
 e application of wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors\, model-based
predictive control\, and intelligent fault diagnosis for next-generation E
V platforms. Furthermore\, the growing interaction between EVs and the sma
 rt grid—through vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-home (V2H) technolo
gies—creates a new research frontier that merges mobility with energy sy
stems. By bridging advanced materials\, digital control\, and system integ
ration\, this session aims to inspire students\, researchers\, and enginee
rs to explore the next wave of innovation in power electronics and electri
c drives. The discussion will also highlight pathways for transforming aca
demic research into practical technologies that support the global shift t
 oward sustainable\, intelligent\, and connected electric mobility.\n\nCo-s
