DESCRIPTION:Invited by IEEE Chengdu ComSoc Chengdu Chapter\, Distinguished
Lecturer\, Prof. Eiji OKI (Kyoto University) will give a invited talk at C
hengdu\, on 16:20~18:00\, Nov. 24\, 2025.\n\nThe talk information is shown
  below.\n\nTalk title: Scaling Optical Circuit-Switched Multi-Stage Networ
ks Ensuring Performance Quality in Data Centers\n\nSpeaker: Eiji Oki\, Kyo
to University\, Kyoto\, Japan\n\nAbstract: This talk explores advancements
in optical circuit switching for multi-stage networks\, a key architectur
e in next-generation data centers. Optical switching is valued for its hig
h transmission capacity and energy efficiency\, ensuring stable communicat
ion through dedicated connections during data transmission. Data centers r
equire scalable network architectures to support large-scale data processi
ng. Among them\, CLOS networks enable efficient resource allocation with h
ierarchical switch interconnections. This talk focuses on optimizing optic
al-circuit-switched CLOS networks to expand the switching network size whi
le maintaining controlled blocking quality. The talk begins with comparing
packet-switched and circuit-switched networks\, followed by CLOS network
structures and their variations\, and an analysis of design models with th
e strict non-blocking condition or an admissible blocking probability guar
antee. Key performance metrics\, including switching network size and comp
utational efficiency\, are thoroughly evaluated from theoretical and pract
ical perspectives. Drawing on recent research\, the talk discusses the cha
llenges of scaling CLOS networks and proposes directions for future develo
pment.\n\nCo-sponsored by: International Joint Research Center for Advanc
ed Wireless Communications Technology\n\nSpeaker(s): Eiji Oki\, Eiji Oki\n
