DESCRIPTION:Online communities have evolved from eMail lists and Bulletin b
 oard systems (BBS) to FaceBook\, Zoom/Webex/Meet tools and overlap with Ti
 ktok and more. The way these tools interact with users (email\, websites\,
  apps) and the implications of these (privacy\, advertising\, etc.) are po
 ints to understand. Recent disclosures indicate that Meta research indicat
 ed that use of that system was psychologically harmful\, which parallels r
 esearch in other areas. We will be hosted at The Baldwin in Londonderry\, 
 a residential community that uses Groups.io as an online community environ
 ment (as does the NH IEEE Section ExCom) -- so we will use that as an exam
 ple of the types of capabilities an online community might find useful. Th
 is particular tool has a 'freemium" version that participants may find use
 ful to coordinate ongoing groups\, or a family reunion. And we will be sha
 ring the discussion with Webex\, a virtual event tool that IEEE uses (comp
 etes with Zoom\, Meet\, etc.)\n\nMembers using other platforms/tools are e
 ncouraged to share their observations about the pros and cons of these.\nR
