DESCRIPTION:Brief description of program:\n\nThe use of electricity is incr
easing rapidly due to the fast adoption of mega-sized data centers\,\nelec
tric vehicles\, etc. To combat the greenhouse effect\, the generation of r
enewable energy is\nalso skyrocketing. However\, the other important piece
of the puzzle is to transport electricity from\nwhere it is generated to
where it is used in load centers in the most reliable\, efficient and\naff
ordable way. The power industry’s pressing need for the most economical
ways to transfer bulk\npower along a desired path may be met by building n
ew transmission lines\, which is a long and\ncostly process. Alternatively
\, it may be quicker and cheaper to identify the underutilized\ntransmissi
on lines and harness their dormant capacity to increase the power flows to
the lines’\nthermal limits. The presentation will cover: basic principl
es of power flow control theory\, an\noverview of the most commonly used p
ower flow controllers\, and their merits and demerits\, and\nfuture trends
. The audience will hear from an expert who actually designed and commissi
oned a\nnumber of power electronics-based FACTS controllers since their in
ceptions in the 1990s.\n\nPLEASE register for this event to help have a li
st of participants to mark present and email PDH forms. Continue requestin
g PDHs to ensure you receive your PDH.\n\nPlease email [RoyBrown@southernc
o.com](mailto:roybrown@southernco.com) after attending the event if you wa
nt a PDH certificate.\n\nContact Roy lee brown if you cannot log in: 205-8
42-6761 or email for help.\n\nI will email you a Link that works for me.\n
\nWe look forward to you joining us and sharing this exciting program.\n\n
