DESCRIPTION:The RNSIT IEEE PELS Student Branch Chapter (SBC) and the IEEE A
ESS SBC successfully organized a joint Volunteer Recruitment Drive on Nove
mber 27\, 2025\, in the Department of EEE\,RNSIT. The primary objective of
this drive was to identify and select enthusiastic\, dedicated\, and prom
ising students from the 2nd year of engineering to serve as future volunte
ers and potential office bearers for both chapters.\n\nThe core aim was tw
ofold:\n\n- Selection: To evaluate and select a cohort of motivated 2nd-ye
ar students through a structured registration and interview process.\n- Tr
aining & Development: To induct the selected volunteers into the organizat
ional structure of IEEE and its SBCs\, providing them with essential train
ing on chapter operations\, event management protocols\, and the roles and
responsibilities required of future office bearers.\n\nThe recruitment dr
ive comprised two main phases:\n\n- Registration Process: The recruitment
drive was specifically announced\, targeting only the 2nd-year student coh
ort. Interested candidates were required to register their details\, expre
ssing their interest in contributing to the activities of either or both S
BCs. The applications received from this targeted group demonstrated signi
ficant student enthusiasm and recognition of the value proposition offered
by the IEEE chapters.\n- Interview and Selection Process: A dedicated int
erview panel\, consisting of the current Office Bearers of the PELS and AE
SS SBCs\, was constituted. The interviews were conducted in the EEE Depart
ment of RNSIT.\n\nThe interviews focused on assessing the following attrib
utes in the candidates:\n\n- Motivation and Commitment: Understanding the
student’s eagerness to volunteer and their perceived long-term commitmen
t to the chapter.\n- Soft Skills: Evaluating communication\, teamwork\, an
d leadership potential.\n- Technical Interest: Gauging their specific inte
rest areas relevant to Power Electronics (PELS) or Aerospace and Electroni
c Systems (AESS).\n- Understanding of IEEE: Basic awareness of the IEEE mi
ssion\, structure\, and the role of a Student Branch Chapter.\n\nThe selec
ted candidates will begin working alongside the current Office Bearers for
the entire upcoming semester. This direct\, practical involvement serves
as the core training methodology\, eliminating the need for separate forma
l training modules.\n\nThe new volunteers will gain knowledge by:\n\n- Pra
ctical Involvement: Actively assisting in the planning\, coordination\, an
d execution of all chapter activities and events.\n- Mentorship: Receiving
direct guidance and knowledge transfer from the current leadership team o
n day-to-day operations\, decision-making\, and membership management.\n-
Organizational Understanding: Learning the processes\, protocols\, and bes
t practices of the IEEE Student Branch and its chapters (PELS and AESS) in
and out of the institution.\n\nFormal appointment to suitable Office Bear
er positions will not be immediate. Instead\, the new cohort will be conti
nuously evaluated based on their performance\, dedication\, and active par
ticipation during this volunteering period. Based on this comprehensive pe
rformance assessment\, the most deserving and competent individuals will b
e selected and appointed to appropriate Office Bearer roles for the subseq
uent academic year. This structured approach ensures continuity\, competen
ce\, and sustainability in the leadership pipeline of both the PELS and AE
SS SBCs.\n\nThe joint volunteer recruitment drive conducted on 27th Novemb
er 2025 was a resounding success\, fulfilling its objective of identifying
and securing a dynamic cohort of 2nd-year students. By focusing the recru
itment and implementing a structured\, experiential learning and merit-bas
ed appointment system\, this initiative lays a strong foundation for the f
uture leadership and continued excellence of the RNSIT IEEE Student Branch
