 scription\n\nThis 45-minute workshop-conference provides a hands-on introd
uction to Git and GitHub for university students with no prior experience.
Through guided demonstrations\, participants will learn how to create a G
itHub account\, manage local and remote repositories\, clone projects\, us
 e branches\, and collaborate on a simple project (e.g.\, an HTML page).\n\
 nCore collaboration concepts (repository\, branch\, clone\, push\, pull\,
etc.) are explained step by step in an accessible manner.\n\n🎯 Learning
Outcomes\n\nBy the end of the workshop\, participants will be able to:\n\
n- create and set up a GitHub account\;\n- create\, clone\, and manage Git
  repositories\;\n- use basic Git commands (clone\, push\, pull)\;\n- creat
e and manage branches\;\n- collaborate on a simple project and handle basi
 c merge conflicts.\n\nSpeaker(s): Dr Ntang\, Dr Marina\n\nAgenda: \nThis b
ilingual (French and English) 45-minute GitHub presentation is intend to e
nable any participant\, who has no prior experience with GitHub\, to creat
e a GitHub account\, create a Git repository on their computer\, and seque
ntially perform the following actions:\n\ni) The participant creates a loc
al project on their computer and pushes it to a GitHub repository to which
the participant has access.\n\nii) The presenter modifies the project tha
t the participant uploaded to GitHub.\n\niii) The participant also modifie
s the project locally.\n\niv) The participant pulls the remote project fro
m GitHub onto their local machine and merges it with their own changes\, m
anaging conflicts if necessary. The project must be very simple\, for exam
ple an HTML file that displays “Hello\, the participant’s name.”\n\n
 v) The participant clones (pulls) a remote project from the presenter onto
their local computer.\n\nvi) The participant creates a new local branch t
hat is different from the project’s default branch.\n\nvii) The particip
ant modifies the new branch and points it to the default branch of the rem
ote project.\n\nviii) The participant pushes the modified project to the r
emote repository.\n\nix) The presenter validates the participant’s chang
es.\n\nOf course\, it will be important during the presentation to explain
  the concepts of branching\, cloning\, pushing\, pulling\, commit\, etc. T
he terms “project” and “repository” are considered synonymous.\n\n
