DESCRIPTION:The IEEE Student Branch of the National Institute of Technology
 Puducherry (NITPY)\, Karaikal\, organized a one-day workshop on “Basics
of Quantum Computing” on October 10\, 2025. Quantum computing represent
s a revolutionary leap in computational technology\, leveraging the princi
ples of quantum mechanics to solve problems far beyond the capabilities of
classical systems. The workshop aimed to introduce the fundamental concep
ts\, principles\, and applications of this emerging field to students\, re
searchers\, and enthusiasts.\n\nThe inaugural session commenced at 10:00 A
M in the presence of Dr. Makarand Madhao Ghangrekar\, Director\, NIT Puduc
herry\; Dr. Aniruddha Khane\, Associate Dean (Research and Consultancy)\;
Mr. M.P. Karthikeyan\, Assistant Professor\, Department of CS & IT\, Facul
ty of Applied Computing\, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University)\, Bangalore\, and
keynote speaker of the workshop\; and Dr. A. Venkadesan\, IEEE Branch Cou
nsellor and Convenor of the workshop.\n\nDr. Venkadesan extended a warm we
lcome to the gathering\, followed by Mr. Vignesh Raj R\, Research Scholar
and Vice-Chairman\, IEEE SB\, NITPY\, who provided an overview of the work
shop. The appreciation address was delivered by Dr. Aniruddha Khane\, who
also introduced the new office bearers of the IEEE Student Branch for the
academic year 2026–27. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Mak
arand Madhao Ghangrekar\, who emphasized the growing importance of quantum
computing in shaping future technologies. The inaugural ceremony conclude
d with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. M. Vishvanath\, Research Scholar a
nd Treasurer\, IEEE SB\, NITPY.\n\nThe technical sessions were conducted i
n two parts. Session I was delivered by Mr. M.P. Karthikeyan on “Quantum
Computing Demystified: Concepts\, Principles\, and Applications.” Sessi
on II was jointly handled by Dr. B. Surendiran\, Professor\, Department of
 CSE\, NITPY\, and Mr. B. Akoramurthy\, Research Scholar\, Department of C
SE\, NITPY\, on “Quantum Development Frameworks.”\n\nThe workshop rece
ived an overwhelming response\, with around 40 registered participants fro
m various institutions across India. The event concluded with a valedictor
y session\, during which participation certificates were distributed by Mr
. M.P. Karthikeyan\, the keynote speaker.\n\nThe one-day workshop served a
s a valuable platform for participants to gain fundamental insights into t
he world of quantum computing — a single step toward a transformative te
chnological journey.\n\nSpeaker(s): Karthikeyan\, \n\nRoom: Sigma Hall\, B
